Hi there, I’m Vicki Ward and I’m proud to be the State Member for the Eltham Electorate, Minister for Prevention of Family Violence and Minister for Employment in the Allan Labor Government.
Since being elected to represent our community in 2014, I have been focused on delivering projects that improve and elevate all our wonderful electorate has to offer.
I am passionate about ensuring high quality services, facilities, and infrastructure for all in the Eltham Electorate, there’s a lot happening in our backyard. To learn more, click here.
And I know this matters for our community too – that is why I’m committed to working together to achieve the best outcomes.
Prior to becoming the Member for Eltham, I worked as an Advisor to The Hon. Jenny Macklin MP, was a tutor at RMIT University and was a business owner.
I am grateful to live in such a beautiful part of Melbourne – a hidden gem under a tree canopy so close to the city – and have done so for majority of my life. I now live in Eltham with my partner Mark, where we are raising our two daughters.
I know this area and our people well; I grew up in Research, where my parents bought their first home on a dirt road opposite a farm. My brother played at the Research Junior Football Club, and we were involved in all aspect of club life. This showed me early on the importance of community, volunteerism and if you want something done, get in there and help.
I believe in community, that we need to be there for each other and feel connected to our neighbours. That there is a very important role for Government to play in supporting people in finding and creating opportunities for themselves, but also extending a helping hand to those who are struggling.
We live in a wonderful community with a big and generous heart. I love representing this area that reflects so many of my own values and core beliefs. I draw inspiration from all the people in our community both past and present who work tirelessly to ensure its ongoing vibrancy.
