100 New Car Spaces for Greensborough Commuters
15 March 2022
A new 100-space car park and bus interchange will be opened at Greensborough Station as part of the Andrews Labor Government’s Hurstbridge Line Duplication – giving people in Melbourne’s north-east more options to park, catch the train and connect with other essential services.
The new car park and bus interchange will feature upgraded lighting and CCTV for safety and will be built on Para Road next to the Greensborough Dental and Medical Centre, right across from the new Greensborough Station – which will open to passengers next year.
Drivers will be able to enter and exit the car park from Flintoff Street, freeing up spaces on surrounding streets and connecting passengers to trains to the city and beyond.
Buses will arrive at the new interchange through an entry point off Para Road and exit via Carter Street to make connecting to trains and Greensborough’s shopping and business hub quicker and easier.
The car park and bus interchange project is being delivered through the Labor Government’s Car Parks for Commuters program – delivering 11,000 new and upgraded parks at train stations across metropolitan and regional Victoria.
Artist impressions of the new car park and bus interchange show a modern facility which complements the look and feel of the surrounding area. The community is encouraged to provide feedback on the designs, particularly around safety, design ideas, and how they plan to use the space. The new car park and bus interchange will open to the public in 2024.
The new Greensborough Station car park and bus interchange complements the work being done by the Level Crossing Removal Project to duplicate two kilometres of track between Greensborough and Montmorency, as well as 1.5 kilometres of track between Diamond Creek and Wattle Glen. Two new stations with modern facilities will also be built at Greensborough and Montmorency.
Works ramped up along the line over the weekend as crews got on with drainage, retaining wall construction, Plenty River Bridge works, piling, rail signalling and earthworks.
