In celebration of International Women’s Day, Vicki Ward, MP for Eltham, has again hosted her annual Pauline Toner Prize event.

The Pauline Toner Prize is a significant recognition of the hard work and dedication of young women who are striving to make positive changes in our community. This award is a testament to the legacy of the Hon. Pauline Toner and her unwavering commitment to serving our community and the people of Victoria.

The Pauline Toner Prize is awarded to a young woman in our community who shows dedication to a cause such as the environment, gender equality, or social justice, issues important to Pauline Toner.

Pauline Toner was the first female Victorian State Government Minister and the first woman elected to the state seat of Greensborough. Throughout her life, Pauline dedicated herself to service of her community.

Every year, members of our community nominate a young woman they believe embodies the principles and values of Pauline Toner.

Among all the very worthy nominees, Martina Charalambous from St Helena Secondary College was this year’s recipient of the prize for her remarkable passion and determination for social justice issues, the environment and reconciliation.

Congratulations to all of the nominees - Scarlett Harrison, Isobel Vertigan, Lois Pokun and Evey Hunter for your commitment to our community.

Congratulations to Martina and all the other nominees. Vicki Ward recognises and celebrates the exceptional efforts of these young women and is excited to see what they will achieve in the future.
