Vicki Ward MP has announced that resurfacing works will commence on Diamond Creek Road, locally referred to as the Windy Mile on 2 February.
The Windy Mile stretch of Diamond Creek Road, between Yan Yean Road and Ryans Road will be closed in both directions nightly from 9:00pm to 5:30am, from Sunday 2 February to Thursday 16 February for repairs (Friday and Saturday nights excluded). During these times, travellers are advised to take Aqueduct Road, Wallowa Road and Ryans Road as an alternative route.
Vicki Ward MP conducted a community survey to highlight the scale and effect of the road’s conditions on local residents. Vicki wrote to and met with the Minister for Roads and Road Safety, Melissa Horne MP, regarding the community feedback received through the survey.
Resurfacing help to preserve our roads and avoids more expensive rehabilitation. When just the road surface is cracked or damaged, resurfacing the road can prevent further damage being caused to the underlying layer.
These works are part of the Allan Labor Government’s $964 million road maintenance package. Crews around Victoria will complete thousands of projects on our network, ranging from road rehabilitation and resurfacing, to patching potholes and maintaining bridges, traffic lights, signage and road infrastructure.
