Young people in the community who are interested in making a difference in the community are encouraged to join the Eltham District Youth Advisory Council.
The council, led by Vicki Ward’ MP, provides young people, aged 15 to 21, a platform in which they can work with their peers to identify important issues in the community, and work towards developing solutions that will be presented to the relevant local, federal or state government representatives and ministers.
The Youth Council provides a unique opportunity to engage with the issues that directly affect young people.
In previous councils, members have advocated within their own school communities to promote the reduction of waste and organised art shows to raise awareness and funding for youth mental health services.
The Youth Council will meet regularly at Vicki Ward’s office, to connect with other like-minded young people and develop their leadership abilities and useful skills for their future endeavours, as they work on a common project, addressing the issues that matter.
Registrations close on Friday 22 March 2024.
If you are interested in joining, please fill out the registration form: https://shorturl.at/tAM08
Quotes attributable to Vicki Ward MP, Member for Eltham
“For the last few years, my office has held these councils, and it has been very informative to hear from council members about their thoughts and experiences, living in the community, and then to see them come together and work towards a common goal.”
“Young people are important in our community yet they often struggle to have their voices heard, which is why I encourage everyone who is interested to apply.”
