The Andrews Labor Government ramped up works on the Hurstbridge Line Duplication over the last two
weeks to allow more trains to run more often and reduce crowding on peak services.

Crews worked on the 3.5km Hurstbridge Line Duplication around-the-clock for 14 days in September to
install the new 50-metre-long Plenty River rail bridge at Greensborough.

They also began work on platforms for the new Montmorency Station, extended Diamond Creek Station
platform two and work began on installing a new pedestrian crossing over the train tracks behind Diamond
Valley College.

During thistime, busesreplaced trainsfrom Tuesday 6 September 2022 to lastservice Monday 19 September
to allow crews to safety and efficiently get on with the job.

The project is on schedule to be completed by mid-2023, with pre-works already delivered to allow the
duplication of 2km of track between Greensborough and Montmorency and 1.5km between Diamond Creek
and Wattle Glen.

Works at the two new stations at Greensborough and Montmorency are underway following significant
works in July that included the installation of 9 beams, each 24 metres long and weighing 36 tonnes, to form
the new Greensborough Station’s concourse and pedestrian crossing.

At Montmorency, piling has been carried out to stabilise and strengthen the soil as part of preparation works
to build the new station, which will complement the suburb’s unique look and feel.

Additionally, a 100-space car park and bus interchange at the Greensborough Station Para Road Carpark will
open next year to provide more options to park, catch the train and access shops and services.

The Labor Government is investing more than $20 billion in Melbourne’s northeast as part of its Big Build to
improve the road and rail network, including the Hurstbridge Line Duplication, Fitzsimmons Lane Upgrade
and removing 12 dangerous and congested level crossings.
