Youth Advisory Council
03 February 2022
APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2022 YOUTH ADVISORY COUNCIL ARE NOW CLOSED.
If you’re interested in working together with your peers to identify and offer solutions to issues you’re passionate about, then I want you on my Youth Advisory Council. You may then have the opportunity to bring these solutions to the community, local government representatives and relevant Ministers.
I have very much enjoyed working with young members of our community in previous Councils, learning from them and hearing their perspectives. I encourage young people with varying interests and backgrounds to nominate yourselves to be a part of my Youth Council. However, I do want to stress my Council is open to all young people regardless of their leadership status in the community - the Council will be a safe and inclusive space for all. During the application process, nominees will be asked to include a short statement of endorsement from a referee.
My council will meet regularly in the electorate to identify and discuss local issues as well as what methods may be used to address the identified problems. I will ask the Youth Advisory Council to actively advise me on youth policy, which my office will help facilitate. Towards the end of the year the Youth Advisory Council will be invited to State Parliament to present their report to the relevant Minister.
If there are any questions regarding the council or if you would like further information, please get in touch with my office on 9439 1500.
I look forward to working with you in a future Eltham Electorate Youth Advisory Council.
